Event Name: Induction Programme BBA Hons (Batch 2023-24)

Objectives of the program:

The primary objective of this induction program was to welcome new students, assist them in adjusting to and feeling at home in the new environment.

To facilitate a smooth transition from a school setting to a university environment.

To brief them about the various academic and extra-curricular activities.

To foster interaction among their classmates, other students, faculty and staff.
Outcome : Knowing about SCMS (Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies. Hyderabad), its rules and ways to conduct oneself.
REPORT:
The Induction Program was organized with the aim to provide an ideal platform for the freshers. It was a judicious mix of corporate interactions, academic discourse and student activities to keep the freshers engrossed and engaged during the entire 5-day period.
Day 1: 12 July 2023
The inaugural session of the induction program was started with a hearty welcome and distribution of induction kit to the freshers, followed by the lighting of the lamp.

The Guest of Honour for the day were Mr. Rajagopal J. Vice President TecWish Hyderabad and Dr Vijendar Reddy Ragidi, General Manager HR and Admin, Monarch Ergo, Hyderabad. They were felicitated by Dr. K. P. Venugopal Rao Officiating Director SCMS, Hyderabad and Dr Santosh Aghav Director, SLS, Hyderabad.

Further Dr. K. P. Venugopal Rao gave the welcome address and emphasised how SCMS, Hyderabad will train students for life and career by preparing them for change. He also delved on the new education policy and how this BBA Honours 4-year degree course is helpful to the students.

Dr. Santosh Aghav Director SLS-H also extended a warm welcome to all present and stressed on the importance of learning management skills and developing a futuristic orientation.
Dr. Vijendar Reddy Ragidi, General Manager HR and admin, Monarch Ergo expressed the importance of planning and preparation before embarking on a journey. He also advised that the best way to deal with fear and uncertainty is to conform it.

Next Mr. Rajagopal J, Vice President TecWish addressed the audience, asking students to inculcate good qualities and to pursue their passion and interest in life. He further stated that life will teach us our own lessons and that we must learn them on our own terms and never give up in life.
Dr. Disha Pathak, the Academic In-charge SCMS-H, gave the vote of thanks, by expressing her heartfelt gratitude to all of the guests and also thanked everyone present.

The pre-lunch session concluded by singing of National Anthem followed by a group photograph.
Post-lunch we had an ice--breaking session by Ms. Surekha Adimulam, a motivational speaker, to make the students feel at home and get to know each other well. Mam organized a number of activities such as drawing names, random tune and hook step, long tower and paper boats which helped students to learn how simple instructions can be misunderstood and how assumptions can lead to miscommunication and conflict as well as the importance of listening to others and relearning things.

Day 2, 13 July 2023
The guest speaker for today’s first session was Mr. Pramod Chandrashekar, a Corporate Coach and Leadership Trainer who kept the students hooked with his versatile talk and explained the “7 principles of success” in a lucid and interesting manner.

This was followed by a session on “Introduction to SCMS Hyderabad”. First, Dr. Disha Pathak briefed about the academics, followed by an online session Multi-Disciplinary Courses by Dr. Vaidyanatha Gundlupet, Faculty In-charge (UG Programme) Academics Department (SIU). Next, Col. Balaji Dayal, the Campus Administrator, at Symbiosis Hyderabad briefed about the campus facilities and the Dos and Don’ts to the students. Finally, a briefing about IT infrastructure at the institute was given by the Senior Network Admin of SIBM-H, Mr. Aslam Khan.

Post lunch we had a session on integrating academics with business by Dr. Satya Prasad VK, Associate Professor SIBM-H. This was followed by a ppt presentation by Dr. Shaik Sofia Rani Assistant Professor SCMS-H on the effective ways to improve one’s presentation skills.

Day 2 concluded with an introduction to the various student clubs active at SCMS-H. In this session the club representatives highlighted the aims and objectives of each club and gave a snapshot of the activities organise during the last one-year, enjoining freshers to join the club of their interest.

Day 3, 14 July 2023
On day 3 the guest speaker was Mr. Sai Kumar, an Executive Coach cum Trainer, who expressed his views on the topic “Social Consciousness and Leadership”. Using real life examples Mr. Sai Kumar explained the significant of awakening our social consciousness as a way to serve the society.

This was followed by another engrossing session by Mr. Nicholas D Ross, Head Corporate Relations & MDP, telling students about the lasting impact of choices made by every single human. Mr. Ross also emphasized on the ‘challenges of changes’ and connected with the students in an interactive way by conducting an activity.
After two corporate sessions it was time for some entertaining stuff. The second year BBA students organized a JAM and a business quiz for the freshers. The freshers really enjoined this session.

Post lunch we had a session on emotional well-being addressed by Ms. Suchita Rajmadhav Rao Campus Counsellor, Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Wellbeing (or SCEW). She highlighted the role of emotional well-being in the professional and personal development of an individual. Moreover, she talked about change and transitions and how it may take a toll on a person's mind when they're being introduced to new environments and ways to address it.

In the next session Dr. Syed Masroor Hasan, Examination In-charge SCMS-H, gave an overview of the examination process.
The last session for the day was taken by Mr. Vemula Srinivas, Library In-charge at SIBM-H, in which he informed the new batch of BBA Honours students about the facilities available at Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and ways to derive maximum benefit out of it. The ppt presentation was followed by a visit to the institute library.
Day 4, 15 July 2023
Ms. Chrysolyte, a Corporate Trainer and Executive Director, Red Rope Movement, addressed a session on "Gender Sensitization" with emphasis on gender discrimination and POSH. Ms. Chrysolyte explained what is meant by discrimination and sexual harassment and its negative impact on society and ways to combat this menace.

The final session was addressed by Mr. Hemant Kumar Chief Manager, Retail Loan Point, UBI, in which he introduced the various schemes launched by UBI to take care of the financial issues students face while pursuing their studies.
Finally, it was time for some adventure, so post lunch the students embarked on an outbound trip to wrap up the induction program.
The success and smooth conduct of the Induction program is an evidence of the management skills and initiative taking abilities of our senior BBA Batch 2022-2025.
