Summary

Event Name: SIU Inter-Institute Volleyball Tournament

Objectives :

To participate in the SIU Inter-Institute Volleyball tournament, which brought together a plethora of young and talented athletes from various Symbiosis Institutes for a spirited competition from the 4th to the 6th of September.

SCMS Hyderabad, with high hopes and determination, participated in the event, which was conducted at Symbiosis International University, Lavale.

Outcome :

The SIU Inter-Institute Volleyball Tournament provided valuable learning experiences for SCMS Hyderabad's volleyball team:

  1. Teamwork: The tournament highlighted the importance of teamwork in volleyball. Effective communication and coordination on the court are crucial for success.
  2. Resilience: Despite facing early elimination, our team remained resilient and displayed a never-give-up attitude. This tournament taught us the value of perseverance in the face of adversity.
  3. Skill Enhancement: Participating in a competitive tournament allowed our players to assess their skills and identify areas for improvement. This experience will serve as a motivation for further skill development.
  4. Networking: The tournament provided an excellent opportunity for our players to network and build connections with athletes from other Symbiosis Institutes. These connections can be valuable for future collaborations and friendships.
  5. Individual Recognition: The selection of two of our players for SIU tryouts serves as a reminder that hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. It motivates other team members to strive for excellence.

Brief Report :

The tournament was fiercely competitive, featuring teams from various Symbiosis Institutes. The matches were intense, showcasing the skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship of the participating players.

SCMS Hyderabad entered the tournament with a team of enthusiastic and determined players. Despite putting up a valiant effort, the team faced tough competition and was unfortunately eliminated in the first round; The matches were a testament to the spirit and resilience of our team members, who gave their best on the court: The Boys’ team had faced our sister Symbiosis Hyderabad campus institute SLS Hyderabad and the Girl’s team had faced SCMC Pune. The score for the Men's match was 2-0 [23-25, 22-25] and for the Women’s match was 2-0 [14-25, 23-25].

While our team may not have progressed deep into the tournament, there was a silver lining for SCMS Hyderabad. Two of our players, Vachan Diwani and Rohan Mertia, displayed exceptional talent and were selected for the SIU (Symbiosis International University) tryouts for the AIU tournament. This recognition of their skills is a testament to their hard work and dedication to the sport.

The SIU Inter-Institute Basketball Tournament, despite the early elimination, was a memorable event for SCMS Hyderabad. It allowed our players to demonstrate their talent and glean important lessons in teamwork, resilience, and skill development. The selection of one player for SIU tryouts fills us with pride, and we are committed to supporting them in their future endeavors. We are eager to use this experience as a stepping stone for growth and success in future basketball competition.
