Event Name: Andaz Apna Apna

Objective:

• To provide a platform for students to showcase their dance skills and foster a vibrant dance culture on campus.
• To celebrate the rich heritage of Indian cinema by encouraging participants to emulate the style and persona of prominent actors and actresses.
• To promote creativity, collaboration, and unity among students from all four institutes.
• To enhance campus engagement through a culturally enriching and entertaining experience.

Outcome:

The event provided participants with an excellent opportunity to perform in front of a large audience, boosting their confidence and encouraging them to explore creative interpretations of Indian film personalities. The event fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among students from different institutes, helping to build strong bonds and a spirit of collaboration. By the end, the event had showcased talent and cultivated a deeper sense of unity and togetherness within the college community.

Guidelines of the Competition-

1. Participants had to select one Indian actor or actress from any film industry and perform a dance routine based on their songs.
2. Solo performances were required to be between 2 and 5 minutes long, while group performances were set to be between 3 and 6 minutes.
3. Participants were judged based on the criteria of choreography, stage presence, costume, and song selection, ensuring a well-rounded performance evaluation.

On the evening of 19 September 2024, Club Hunar of SCMS-H organized the highly anticipated dance competition, Andaz Apna Apna – Their Identity, Your Style. The event brought together students from SCMS, SLS, SIBM, and SIT, who enthusiastically participated. The unique concept required participants to select a famous Indian cinema personality and perform a dance routine based on their associated songs. This allowed them to creatively pay tribute to these iconic figures.

The event opened with a spectacular performance by Club Hunar, featuring a powerful Shiv Tandav. The routine, blending classical and Western styles, depicted a mesmerizing battle between the two and ended with a stunning pyramid formation, setting the bar high for the evening. This was followed by solo performances, where participants offered their interpretations of famous film songs, captivating the audience with their energy and creativity. There was a total of 28 performances, including 13 solo and 15 group acts.

Members of Club Hunar then presented a group routine celebrating Indian cinema, featuring a mix of songs from both old and new eras and different languages across India, adding a rich cultural layer to the evening. The participants followed with group performances, showcasing synchronized choreography and remarkable teamwork.

After the performances, participants and attendees enjoyed a lively session of open-floor dancing, celebrating together before the winners were announced. With over 800 attendees—including faculty, administrative staff, and students—the atmosphere was filled with excitement. The evening ended with the prize distribution, marking the conclusion of a vibrant and memorable event.
