Purpose:
The purpose of the pledge ceremony was to actively involve the youth of SCMS-H in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a nationwide initiative to eradicate drug abuse. Recognizing that youth are the backbone of the nation, the ceremony sought to empower students to take a firm stand against drug use. The pledge served as a formal commitment from the students to remain drug-free and to inspire those around them to do the same. The event aimed to contribute to the broader goal of a drug-free India by fostering a sense of personal and social responsibility.
Participants:
The ceremony was conducted for three batches of SCMS-H students, each comprising approximately 55,35 and 40 students. This brought the total number of participants to 80. The students, representing diverse backgrounds, actively engaged in the ceremony, reflecting their understanding of the importance of the cause. Faculty members were also present, supporting the initiative and reinforcing the message that the fight against drug abuse is a collective responsibility.
Structure of the Ceremony:
1. Opening Remarks:
The ceremony began with a welcome address from Jigyasa Shrivastava, a third-year student of SCMS-H. The address set the tone for the event by emphasizing the critical role of the youth in driving social change, particularly in the context of combating drug abuse.
2. Pledge Ceremony:
The core of the event was the pledge-taking ceremony. The student speaker led the entire assembly of students to recite the pledge against drug abuse. The pledge was solemn, affirming their commitment to staying drug-free and encouraging others to do the same. The wording of the pledge focused on the personal and communal aspects of the fight against drug abuse, reminding participants that change begins with individual actions. The students pledged not only to abstain from drugs themselves but also to actively work towards making their district/state drug-free by influencing their peers, family members, and the broader community.
3. Closing Remarks:
The student speaker praised her peers for their participation and commitment, urging them to be ambassadors of the drug-free movement within and beyond the campus. The remarks also served as a motivational call to action, encouraging students to translate their words into deeds and to support one another in maintaining a drug-free lifestyle. The event closed with a vote of thanks.
