Event Name: SIU Inter-Institute Badminton Tournament
OBJECTIVE:

To participate in the SIU Inter-Institute Badminton Tournament and showcase our talent and badminton skills.

To observe, interact and learn from other participants, thereby improve upon our game.
OUTCOME:
1. Team Cohesion: The tournament underscored the critical role of teamwork in badminton. Success depends on effective communication, coordination, and mutual trust among team members.
2. Resilience: Despite an early exit from the competition, our team remained determined and showed an unwavering spirit. This experience highlighted the importance of perseverance when faced with challenges.
3. Skill Development: Competing at a high level enabled our players to evaluate their abilities and identify areas for growth. This will inspire further improvement and refinement of their skills.
4. Networking: The tournament provided a great platform for our players to connect and build relationships with athletes from other Symbiosis Institutes. These connections may lead to future collaborations and lasting friendships.
BRIEF REPORT:
The SIU Inter Institute Badminton Tournament was held from 26th - 30th August, 2024 at SIU Lavale campus, Pune.
Girls Event:
A three member girls’ team from SCMS-Hyderabad participated in the event. The name of the participants were: Kocherlakota Shivgauri, Nikhita Menon and Palak Agarwal; all students of BBA I semester.
In the first round, the SCMS girls' team faced off against SIIB in a best of 3 series. The opening singles match featured Nikhita, who delivered an exceptional performance by winning in straight sets. She secured the first set with a score of 15-9 and followed up with a 15-12 victory in the second set. This strong start gave SCMS an early advantage. However, the doubles match saw Nikhita and Palak facing a tough challenge. Despite a commendable effort, they were narrowly defeated by their opponents, with set scores of 15-11, 11-15, and 12-15. This loss levelled the score between the two teams. The final reverse singles match saw Shivgauri competing valiantly but ultimately losing
to her opponent with scores of 9-15 and 7-15. Despite the outcome, the team demonstrated resilience and competitive spirit throughout the round.

Boys Event:
The SCMS-Hyderabad boys team was represented by Sri Anjan Metla, Sai Amrit students of BBA I semester and Shikar Chand Sahu student of BBA V semester.
After receiving a bye in the first round against SCMHRD, we advanced to the second round to face SSE Pune in a best-of-five series. Anjan set a strong tone by winning the first singles match convincingly with scores of 15-5 and 15-6. However, the competition intensified as Shikhar, despite a valiant effort, lost both sets in the second singles match, levelling the overall score. The third match, doubles encounter with Anjan and Amrit, saw initial success as they took the first set 15-11. Unfortunately, they couldn't sustain the momentum, losing the next two sets 12-15 and 10-15. The pressure mounted in the fourth singles match, where Amrit, despite his best efforts, fell short with scores of 9-15 and 10-15.
Although our team fought hard, we were ultimately defeated by SSE Pune, with the final score of 1-3 in their favour.
This experience, though challenging, underscored the importance of perseverance and teamwork, and it will serve as a foundation for future growth and improvement.

The SIU Inter-Institute Badminton Tournament, despite our early elimination, was a significant and memorable event for participants from SCMS Hyderabad. It offered our players the chance to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience in teamwork, resilience, and skill development. The tournament was a great opportunity for growth and learning. We remain proud of our team effort and are committed to supporting their continued development as they build on this experience for future competitive events.
