The SIU Inter Institute Badminton Tournament was held from 26th - 30th August, 2024 at SIU Lavale campus, Pune.

Girls Event:

A three member girls’ team from SCMS-Hyderabad participated in the event. The name of the participants were: Kocherlakota Shivgauri, Nikhita Menon and Palak Agarwal; all students of BBA I semester.

In the first round, the SCMS girls' team faced off against SIIB in a best of 3 series. The opening singles match featured Nikhita, who delivered an exceptional performance by winning in straight sets. She secured the first set with a score of 15-9 and followed up with a 15-12 victory in the second set. This strong start gave SCMS an early advantage. However, the doubles match saw Nikhita and Palak facing a tough challenge. Despite a commendable effort, they were narrowly defeated by their opponents, with set scores of 15-11, 11-15, and 12-15. This loss levelled the score between the two teams. The final reverse singles match saw Shivgauri competing valiantly but ultimately losing to her opponent with scores of 9-15 and 7-15. After receiving a bye in the first round against SCMHRD, we advanced to the second round to face SSE Pune in a best-of-five series. Anjan set a strong tone by winning the first singles match convincingly with scores of 15-5 and 15-6. However, the competition intensified as Shikhar, despite a valiant effort, lost both sets in the second singles match, levelling the overall score. The third match, doubles encounter with Anjan and Amrit, saw initial success as they took the first set 15-11. Unfortunately, they couldn't sustain the momentum, losing the next two sets 12-15 and 10-15. The pressure mounted in the fourth singles match, where Amrit, despite his best efforts, fell short with scores of 9-15 and 10-15. Although our team fought hard, we were ultimately defeated by SSE Pune, with the final score of 1-3 in their favour.

This experience, though challenging, underscored the importance of perseverance and teamwork, and it will serve as a foundation for future growth and improvement.
