Brief Report:
The Skills Shots Camera Mastery Workshop was successfully held on 5th September in Classroom 108,
aimed at introducing new members of the Capture Club to the fundamental principles of camera
handling and photography. This workshop was specifically designed to bridge the gap between using
smartphones for photography and operating professional cameras. The goal was to provide participants
with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively use a camera and develop
their photographic abilities.
The workshop commenced with a comprehensive presentation delivered via PowerPoint, which covered the
foundational aspects of camera functions. Participants were introduced to key features such as
shutter speed, exposure, lighting, and essential components like turning the camera on and off,
navigating the gallery, and adjusting settings for optimal picture quality. This theoretical
introduction set the stage for a deeper understanding of the camera's capabilities.
Following the presentation, an experienced faculty member provided live demonstrations, showcasing
practical examples of how to utilize various camera functions. This hands-on segment allowed
participants to observe real-time applications of the theoretical concepts discussed. Students were
then given the opportunity to engage directly with the cameras provided by the club's heads and
co-heads. Each participant explored camera functions in real time, experimenting with different
settings and techniques to capture their own photographs.
The interactive nature of the workshop was further emphasized as members had the chance to click and
review their own images. This activity reinforced the lessons learned, enabling participants to
apply their newly acquired knowledge and receive immediate feedback. The session not only helped
attendees grasp the technical aspects of camera operation but also fostered a collaborative and
engaging learning environment. Interactions with the Head and Co-head of the Club enriched the
experience, providing additional insights and guidance.
Overall, the Skills Shots Camera Mastery Workshop effectively equipped new members with a thorough
introduction to camera handling. The event succeeded in building participants' confidence and
competence in using professional cameras, laying a strong foundation for their continued exploration
of the art of photography.
