Event Name: International Women’s Day Celebrations 2025

Outcomes:
Improved Knowledge: Participants not only learn about the biological aspects of menstruation but also understand the importance of hygienic practices, safe product use, and other methods to address common challenges. They can identify and dispel myths and misconceptions leading to healthier habits and informed choices.
Increased Confidence: Women and girls gain confidence not just in managing their period but also in navigating the social and emotional aspects of menstruation. They feel answered to break the silence, seek support when needed, and advocate for their menstrual needs.
Community Action: The event sparks ongoing dialogue and inspires participants to talk beyond the event itself. This could involve peer-to-peer education, supporting locals, advocating for policy changes, or creating awareness campaigns to address menstrual health challenges within their communities.
Brief Report:
The event was done in collaboration with the SHAKTHI team of SIBM and it started at 2:30pm. There were total of 90 staff members as audience. They all gathered in the Lecture Theatre. Suhitha (Member of Ikshana club) hosted the event. The theme this year for International Women’s Day was “Accelerate action” and she gave brief introduction in English.
After this, a small video showing the celebrations done last year was played. There was also a video made by SHAKTHI club where they showed gratitude towards women which was also played in presence of the staff.
Then after a Rangoli Competition was conducted. It was also conducted near Lecture Theatre. Many of the staff members participated and Winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) were given Hot pot Casseroles as rewards.
After the fun rangoli competition, there was a awareness session on menstrual hygiene by Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi MBBS (Deputy District Medical Officer, DMHO Shadnagar, Nandigama mandal, RR district, Hyderabad). The speech was delivered in Telugu as it was easy for the staff members to understand. The speech lasted for 30-45 mins. The speech was amalgamation of menstrual hygiene habits, proper nutrition intake and physical activity.
Towards the end of the ceremony the doctor was felicitated and there was cake cutting ceremony to emphasize of strength of unity in women. The cake cutting was done in presence of Mrs. Ridhi Rani, Mrs. Disha Pathak and Mr. Ravi Kiran from the side of SCMS-H.
As a token of gratitude staff were given gifts of Steel water bottles and refreshments (which included 2 samosas, 1 Frooti and a piece of cake). The ceremony ended around 5:00pm.
