Outcomes:

  1. Wide Participation: The run witnessed enthusiastic participation from multiple Symbiosis campuses, with students, faculty, and staff contributing to the vibrant atmosphere.
  2. Positive Engagement: Participants appreciated the balance of fitness and patriotism, with feedback highlighting the energy, organization, and sense of unity the event created.
  3. Representation from SCMS Hyderabad: Four students – Sureddy Manasvi (BBA III Year), Gia Giani (BBA I Year), Shashank Krishna (BBA II Year), and Pranav Jagilanka (BBA II Year) – represented SCMS Hyderabad, showcasing cross-campus engagement.
  4. Networking & Exposure: Students interacted with dignitaries, including Dr. Nayana Nimkar (Director, Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences), strengthening inter-institutional connections.

Brief Report:

The Freedom for Fitness Run 2025 was organized by the Department of Sports, Recreation, and Wellness (DSRW) at Symbiosis International University, Lavale, Pune, on 15th August 2025. This annual event, dedicated to health and patriotism, was conducted as part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations.

The run featured 10 km (male category) and 5 km (female category) segments, attracting enthusiastic participation from students across various Symbiosis campuses in India. The atmosphere was filled with energy, discipline, and a strong collective spirit of fitness and unity.

Representatives from SCMS Hyderabad actively participated in the run, engaging not only in the marathon but also in interactions with students and faculty from other Symbiosis campuses. Their experience proved to be transformative, fulfilling, and an excellent opportunity for exposure to the wider Symbiosis ecosystem.

Following the run, participants attended the flag hoisting ceremony, where Symbiosis Founder and President, Dr. Shantaram Balwant Mujumdar, delivered an inspiring speech on the values of freedom, unity, and education. The event also featured cultural performances that highlighted India’s diversity and patriotic spirit, adding vibrancy to the Independence Day celebrations.

Reflection:

For the SCMS Hyderabad contingent, participation in the FFR 2025 was more than just a fitness challenge; it was an opportunity to:

  • Experience camaraderie and patriotism on a larger platform.
  • Interact with peers from across Symbiosis campuses, gaining insight into the broader community culture.
  • Build discipline and resilience while reinforcing the value of fitness as a lifelong practice.

The students reflected that such experiences add significant value to their personal and professional growth, enabling them to balance academics, leadership, and wellness.

Exposure:

The event offered:

  • Direct interaction with senior faculty and directors, notably Dr. Nayana Nimkar, enriching students’ exposure to the institutional leadership at Symbiosis.
  • Networking with students from other campuses, broadening their social and professional connections.
  • Practical exposure to event organization and participation at scale, providing insights into large-scale wellness initiatives.
CONCLUSION:

The Freedom for Fitness Run 2025 successfully combined health, wellness, and patriotism, embodying the true spirit of Symbiosis. The participation of SCMS Hyderabad students not only marked their commitment to fitness but also strengthened their integration within the larger Symbiosis fraternity.
