The SCMS Hyderabad Girls’ Team — Palak, Vaishnavi, and Mahathi — proudly represented their institute in the SIU Inter-Institute Table Tennis Tournament. In the first round against SIBM Pune, the team displayed commendable determination, teamwork, and fighting spirit throughout the contest.
The final result was a 1–3 loss to SIBM Pune. Although the team did not advance to the next round, their debut performance was marked by courage, teamwork, and potential. The players gained valuable exposure to competitive, high-pressure matches and learned important lessons in consistency, confidence, and match endurance.
The SCMS Hyderabad Boys’ Team — Siddhardh, Niteesh, and Lovish — entered the second round of the SIU Inter-Institute Table Tennis Tournament with renewed determination after their spirited showing in the opening encounter. Their opponents this time were a strong SLS Nagpur team, known for their consistency and tactical sharpness.
From the outset, the tie promised to be competitive, with both sides eager to prove themselves.
In the opening match, Siddhardh took on SLS Nagpur’s top seed. The opening game was neck-and-neck, with Siddhardh matching his opponent stroke for stroke. Despite losing the first game narrowly (9–11), he bounced back strongly to claim the second (11–8), lifting the energy in the SCMS camp. However, his opponent capitalized on crucial points in the decider, edging Siddhardh out (11–7), giving SLS Nagpur a 1–0 lead.
Niteesh stepped up in the second match determined to square things up. He started aggressively, dominating rallies with precise forehand winners to clinch the first game (11–6). The momentum, however, swung the other way as his opponent adjusted strategies, forcing longer rallies and testing his patience. Despite valiant efforts, Niteesh went down in the next two games (7–11, 9–11), in what was one of the closest contests of the round. The scoreboard now stood at 0–2 in favor of SLS Nagpur.
With his team under pressure, Lovish entered the third match knowing only a win would keep SCMS alive in the tie. Displaying his trademark fighting spirit, he brought out some of the finest rallies of the day, thrilling the crowd. Lovish fought tooth and nail, winning a tense first game (12–10). He carried forward the intensity but narrowly missed vital opportunities in the following two games, eventually losing (10–12, 8–11). The result sealed the round for SLS Nagpur at 3–0.
Although the scoreline read 0–3, SCMS Hyderabad’s boys demonstrated resilience, heart, and growing maturity on the table. Siddhardh showed composure against a top-tier opponent, Niteesh displayed courage with his fearless play, and Lovish almost extended the contest with his fighting spirit.
This second-round contest was a learning curve, testing the players’ match temperament and endurance. While SLS Nagpur advanced, the Hyderabad team once again proved their potential, leaving an impression of grit and sportspersonship.
This tournament marked a significant milestone for SCMS Hyderabad, as it was the first time the institute was represented in Table Tennis at the SIU Inter-Institute level. Although the team faced elimination in the opening round, the overall experience was deeply enriching. It helped build confidence among the players and laid a strong foundation for nurturing a vibrant table tennis culture within the institute. With continued training, commitment, and competitive exposure, the team is well-positioned to achieve greater success in future tournaments.
