TOPIC: “RHETORICAL RUMBLE” – Debate Competition
OBJECTIVE:
To enhance communication and research skills.
To provide a platform for all the students to take a creative break from their schedules.
To offer opportunities for participants to construct compelling arguments and to enhance their ability to persuade and influence others.
OUTCOME:
• Crafting Convincing Arguments and Mastering Communication: Participants honed the art of crafting persuasive arguments and sharpened their communication skills, becoming adept in the art of rhetoric and persuasion.
• Elevating Research Proficiency: By delving into debate preparation, participants elevated their research prowess, learning to sift through diverse sources, critically assess information, and arrive at well-informed conclusions.
• Empowering Public Speaking Confidence: Through engaging in debates, participants experienced a surge in confidence when articulating their ideas and perspectives, triumphing over apprehension to speak with eloquence.
• Cultivating Team Spirit and Collaboration: Debates served as a breeding ground for teamwork and collaboration, as participants collaborated to construct compelling arguments, fine-tune strategies, and synchronize presentations seamlessly.
• Celebrating Individual Talents and Values: Each debate became a stage for participants to showcase their unique talents and uphold their cherished values, all within the framework of respectful dialogue.
• Rewarding Excellence with Appreciation: The winning team was honored with a Rs. 1000 coupon, symbolizing appreciation for their dedication and inspiring a continuous pursuit of excellence in the realm of debating.
BRIEF REPORT:
The event began with Snehlata Kumari, our host, giving a warm welcome to our judge, Mr. Imran Alam, and all our eager participants. Each team was allotted 10 minutes to present their arguments.

We kicked off the excitement with our first competing teams, Pranava and Allen, and Suhitha and Advika. They engaged in a lively debate on the topic “Cryptocurrency – a revolution or a bubble waiting to burst” With well-thought-out arguments, Pranava and Allen emerged victorious in this round.

Next up, we had Tanishq and Jia, and Anantha and Abhinav tackling the topic “Office Pets - Should be allowed in Office to boost employee morale or not ?” After a zestful discussion, Tanishq and Jia clinched the win, asserting that workplaces are better off without pets.

The energy remained high as Somya and Isha, along with Anugna and Joona, took the stage to debate on “Influencer Marketing – A Boon or Bane?” After a compelling exchange of ideas, Anugna and Joona emerged as the winners, convincing the audience with their arguments.

The finalists, Pranava and Allen, and Tanishq and Jia entered the round for the ultimate showdown. The topic of “Should Parents Track Their Children’s Locations Through Phones?” sparked a captivating debate. In a closely contested round, Pranava and Allen emerged triumphant, according to the verdict delivered by our judge.

To wrap up the event, our club head, Krithika Reddy, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, the judge, and everyone involved in making the event a success.
