Objectives
  • To participate in the SIU Inter-Institute Badminton Tournament and showcase our talent and badminton skills.
  • To observe, interact, and learn from other participants, thereby improving upon our game.
  • To foster and strengthen the core values of teamwork, strategic thinking, resilience, and unwavering sportsmanship among the team members.
  • To gain high-level competitive exposure necessary for evaluating and enhancing the current training regimen of the team.
  • To maintain high standards of discipline, commitment, and professionalism both on and off the court throughout the duration of the tournament.
Outcomes
  1. Team Cohesion: The tournament highlighted the significance of teamwork, coordination, and communication. Success in badminton requires trust and understanding among teammates.
  2. Resilience: Even though the team did not progress further, their spirit and determination remained high, teaching them perseverance in the face of challenges.
  3. Skill Development: Playing against skilled opponents allowed the players to evaluate their performance, identify strengths, and work on areas that require improvement.
  4. Networking: The competition served as a platform for interaction with peers from various Symbiosis Institutes, fostering camaraderie and potential future collaborations.
  5. Discipline and Time Management: The need to balance travel, warm-ups, matches, and recovery instills a strong sense of discipline and improved time-management skills.
Brief Report

The SIU Inter-Institute Badminton Tournament was conducted from 1st – 4th September, 2025, at the SIU Lavale campus, Pune.

Girls Event

A five-member team represented SCMS-Hyderabad in the tournament. The players were:

  • Nikhita Menon (BBA 3rd semester)
  • Palak Agarwal (BBA 3rd semester)
  • Siri Balaji (BBA 5th semester)
  • Greethika Tanam (BBA 3rd semester)
  • Gia Giani (BBA 1st semester)

In the first round, SCMS-Hyderabad faced SSLA in a best-of-three series:

  • The opening singles match was played by Nikhita. Despite her determined performance, she was defeated in straight sets with scores of 9–15 and 12–15, giving SSLA an early lead.
  • The doubles match saw Nikhita and Palak take on a tough pair from SSLA. Despite a spirited fight, they lost in two sets: 11–15, 12–15.

Although the SCMS-Hyderabad team exited in the first round, their performance reflected determination, teamwork, and competitive spirit. The experience gained will undoubtedly help them enhance their game and prepare better for future tournaments.

Boys Event

The SCMS-Hyderabad boys’ team was represented by:

  • Sai Varshith Reddy (BBA 5th Semester)
  • Sai Amrit (BBA 3rd Semester)
  • Allen Joshua Rajiv (BBA 5th Semester)
  • Vetcha Agnivesh (BBA 5th Semester)
  • Lovish Narula (BBA 1st Semester)

In the first round, the SCMS Hyderabad badminton team received a bye, advancing directly to the second round, where they faced SIDTM Pune in a best-of-five series.

The opening singles match saw Amrit take the court with determination and focus. Despite his spirited performance, he fell short in straight sets, giving SIDTM an early advantage. In the second singles match, Lovish displayed strong resilience and competitive energy, but his opponent’s consistency proved decisive, extending SIDTM’s lead.

The deciding doubles match featured Amrit and Varshith, who started aggressively and showed excellent coordination. However, despite their promising start, the SIDTM duo maintained greater consistency and clinched victory in straight sets, sealing the series 3–0 in their favor.

Although SCMS Hyderabad was eliminated from the tournament, the team demonstrated commendable teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. The experience offered valuable insights into performing under pressure and will serve as a strong foundation for future competitions and overall team development.

The SIU Inter-Institute Badminton Tournament, despite our early elimination, was a significant and memorable event for participants from SCMS Hyderabad. It offered our players the chance to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience in teamwork, resilience, and skill development. The tournament was a great opportunity for growth and learning. We remain proud of our team effort and are committed to supporting their continued development as they build on this experience for future competitive events.

Conclusion

The Inter-Institute Badminton Tournament 2025 was more than just a competition — it was an enriching experience that tested our skills, unity, and perseverance. Representing SCMS Hyderabad with pride, the team displayed commendable sportsmanship, grit, and enthusiasm throughout the event. While the encounter with SIDTM Pune ended in defeat, it served as a valuable opportunity for growth, reflection, and learning. The tournament not only strengthened our camaraderie but also deepened our understanding of teamwork, focus, and discipline. We return with renewed motivation and a stronger spirit, ready to refine our game and face future challenges — both on the court and beyond it.
