BRIEF REPORT:

"Financial independence is the foundation of true empowerment.”

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Ikshana - the ISR Club of SCMS Hyderabad, in collaboration with Shakti - Women Development Cell of SIBM Hyderabad, organized a Financial Awareness Session with the objective of empowering women through enhanced financial literacy and informed decision-making. The initiative was thoughtfully aligned with key global development priorities, particularly SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, emphasizing the importance of knowledge, equality, and economic empowerment.

The session was conducted by Kolakaluri Sandhya Rani, who brought her extensive professional experience to deliver an insightful and engaging session. She elaborated on the importance of financial planning as a foundational step toward achieving financial independence. The discussion covered key aspects such as budgeting, disciplined savings, understanding various financial instruments, and making informed investment choices.

Participants, comprising both students and female staff members, were introduced to practical approaches for managing personal finances effectively. Through real-life examples and relatable scenarios, the speaker emphasized the significance of starting early, setting financial goals, and adopting a systematic approach toward wealth creation and risk management. The session also highlighted the need for financial awareness in today's dynamic economic environment, where informed decisions play a crucial role in ensuring stability and growth.

An interactive component of the session allowed participants to engage actively, ask questions, and clarify their doubts regarding financial products, savings plans, and investment strategies. This exchange of ideas not only enhanced understanding but also encouraged participants to think critically about their financial habits and future planning.

Following the awareness session, the event transitioned into a celebratory segment with a fun and engaging game of Musical Chairs organized for the female staff members. This activity created a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere, fostering camaraderie, relaxation, and appreciation for the contributions of women within the campus community.

The event concluded on a positive and memorable note, marked by enthusiastic participation and a sense of collective celebration. Overall, the initiative successfully combined knowledge dissemination with engagement and recognition, reinforcing the importance of financial empowerment, gender equality, and continuous learning. It served as a meaningful step toward building a financially aware and empowered community, aligned with broader sustainable development goals.
